Windows 8 logo was introduced by Microsoft via its official blog.
The new Windows 8 logo will feature image of windows perspective with light blue color and "Windows 8" text.
Microsoft mentioned, the Windows logo 8 logo was adapted from the Windows 1.0 logo. And they have picks 3 main criteria before selecting the Logo:
1. New logo has to be both modern and classic by echoing the International Typographic Style (or Swiss design) that has been a great influence on Microsoft Metro style design philosophy. Using bold flat colors and clean lines and shapes, the new logo has the characteristics of way-finding design systems seen in airports and subways.
2. The new logo carries Metro principle of being “Authentically Digital”. It has motion – aligning with the fast and fluid style you’ll find throughout Windows 8.
3. The final goal was for the new logo to be humble, yet confident. Welcoming you in with a slight tilt in perspective and when you change your color, the logo changes to reflect user.

Various Windos logo from time to time
However, in my opinion, the new Windows logo look very poor and not eye catching. At a glance, the Windows logo looks more likely Finnish flag, maybe to honour Nokia as their Windows Phone maker. :)(although the color will change to reflect the theme of windows used).
I think the "Windows 8 Logo" will look much better and instantly recognizable when they don't use one color only in the window image, but instead using red, blue, yellow, and green.
So what do you think? Does the new Windows 8 logo looks great, Ok, or very ugly??
